Founded in 2023, the ABC San Diego Chapter’s Young Professionals’ Mentorship Program is a free program for ABC San Diego members. It is designed to connect future construction career professionals with senior leaders and peers in the industry. It focuses on career development to help build our future leaders into leaders in our industry. This program is designed for construction professionals in all phases of their careers at the lowest level of journeyperson, as well as diversified positions.

Our Mission

ABCSD’s Young Professionals (YP) program aims to shape the future of our industry by supporting the growth of young professionals employed by ABC members. The program creates opportunities for young leaders to build relationships, expand their skills and advance their careers while continuing to promote open competition and the merit shop philosophy.

Mentoring is a special partnership between two people or group based on commitment to the mentoring process, common goals/expectations of partnership, and mutual trust and respect.

Mentoring is a “get and give” relationship with the goal of providing both partners with rich, rewarding experiences.

About Our Program

Future construction career professionals can connect with senior leaders and peers through the Young Professionals Mentorship Program, helping them grow in the field, get guidance from someone in their trade and/or industry, build relationships, and set goals for their professional development.

The Young Professionals Mentorship Program is a unique opportunity for young emerging leaders in the construction industry to learn from a mentor with years of experience, meet, network and learn from peers. Once the mentee is paired a senior leader who will be their mentor, the Young Professional Committee will conduct an introduction meeting to introduce each group to your team. A Young Professional Committee member will be paired with each mentor group to help facilitate meetings and be a guidance to the group in order to help make the program successful. They will also show you the resources that are created to guide you to the program.

Through this mentorship, you will build an understanding of how to get ahead in your career and understand where opportunities can lead you within the company!

The 2023 program runs from April to November. We hope that you could be apart of our program to help build your future!
